GLM has recently worked on the Shell Helix “Driven to Extremes” marketing campaign which included delivering 2 modified Nissan Patrol’s to the hottest, coldest and driest conditions on earth. The expeditions were made into TV programmes for the Discovery Channel.
Quote from the Discovery Channel website:
“Driven to Extremes is a three-part global challenge, pitting two specially-built vehicles – and more specifically the oil inside them – against three of the most difficult roads on Earth.
However, inside our purpose-built Nissan Patrols will be an A-list Hollywood celebrity (Tom Hardy, Henrill Cavill and Adrien Brody) accompanied by a motorsport hero (Neil Hodgson and Mika Salo) as they take on the coldest, the hottest and the roughest roads on the planet.”
GLM’s project objective was to deliver the vehicles to the locations to schedule and return them to GLM’s warehouse post completion. Currently GLM manage the delivery of the vehicles to various Shell markets around the world for use as static displays as part of the Helix campaign roll out.
GLM arranged the transfer of the cars from London to the first part of the trip – Siberia. The routing was via airfreight from Frankfurt using a cargo aircraft to Moscow. Once in Moscow GLM cleared the cars under ATA carnet conditions and arranged for them to be flown to Yakutsk in Siberia.
Once the expedition team had completed the “Road of Bones” section in Siberia the cars were driven east into China and GLM arranged the “Carnet Passage” which effectively transfers the ATA Carnet to another territory before returning them via Sea Freight to the UK.
Sherine Yap, the Global Brand and Advertising Manager for Shell Helix, commented;
“Global Logistics are a key supplier for Shell Helix managing the logistics for some of the assets used in our global marketing campaigns. GLM are an important element of our partner group and we rely on their knowledge, expertise and advice to deliver assets on time and to budget.”
